The 3 books chosen are in the genre fantasy. All 3 books are by current authors and feature unique heroes and/or heroines. This will help the students connect to the book they choose. The students will be able to connect with the characters problems, which allows the students to delve deeper into their reading. The students will get to choose which book to read. This will give the students choice in the classroom. The students will read a book critically, and work in a small group to discuss the main characters problems, solutions, etc... Students will keep a reader's notebook while reading the novel. The final project will be determined by the students based on their reading. This gives students independence and responsibility.
