With your help I hope to create an engaging and inviting Makerspace in our school library. The Makerspace will be used to allow our students to engage in STEM activities they may not be getting in the classroom. With the huge rise in STEM related jobs, I feel that we need to expose students to as much science and technology as we can.
Many of my students do not have the access to these opportunities outside of school. We are a Title 1 school. The majority of our families are low income and English learners. They are bright and passionate about learning. I would love to be able to expose them to science based activities and spark something that can turn into a career for them.
The students will be able to create, build, design, and problem solve with the tools that I am requesting. The Legos will also be used to encourage them to return their library books. Each time they return their books, they will get one Lego to add to our collective sculpture. This will allow them to be rewarded, work together, and be creative.
Our school motto is "Do Your Best to Be Your Best!" Please "Do Your Best" to help our students be successful in and out of the classroom! We can't wait to start using our Library Makerspace!
