By incorporating the Handwriting Without Tears hands-on materials, my students will be able to practice correct letter formation, not just in our learning centers but also in our whole group meetings. Manipulating these items will help students move towards correct letter formation therefore resulting in better handwriting skills in the future. The SumBlox math building blocks will promote numeral recognition as well as one-to-one correspondence and addition concepts. The Montessori and STEM items chosen will help promote problem solving, logic, imagination, cause and effect and fine motor skills. Little hands learn best when busy so by including these enticing hands-on materials in our learning centers, students will learn many different skills while "playing".
