Our high school is a rural public school. We have the largest geographic district in our county. Many of our students are on the bus for an hour, to and from school. While most have access to some technology at home, very few use it for school work. We are considered a poverty district, and almost 70% of our population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch. Our district has also just emerged from a five-year deficit reduction plan, which left little money for classroom supplies or department consumables. We have not had new textbooks in over ten years. HOWEVER, our students are curious, motivated and appreciative. They do the best they can with what we have.
