This classroom is used for disciplinary as well as reflective purposes. Focus is on guiding students to discover the cause behind their behavior and realize a more appropriate behavior to use in the future. Many methods are used, such as videos, worksheets, discussion, SEL books, etc. Students are also expected to keep up with daily classwork. A large percentage of ISS students arrive without the materials necessary to complete their assignments. Many of these students are already struggling with lower than average grades and/or missing assignments. Help is given with work as necessary, as well as bookbag/notes organizing, homework/project planning and prioritizing. Information about other relevant topics such as proper note taking, study skills, time management and career planning are available. Other class materials are needed, as well as various school supplies for students who don't have the means to get them.
