I teach at a community school in SouthEast Chicago. We are truly a neighborhood school, with the highest % of area student attendance in the city. 83% of students are considered high need. My classes include Junior IB Biology and general Junior Physics. Though I've spent an embarrassing amount of my own money working to furnish my room with resources to best serve my students in courses and college preparation, lack of resources is a tremendous challenge. My room doesn't have a working projector screen or projector (I'm using my own), and I've also purchased 2 ipads to allow students to use a number of apps both specific to content and general. My room doesn't have a sink, and budgets for classroom materials, consumables, manipulatives and resources are extremely tight. My students lament our lack of computers and general resources, expressing concern at their college preparation. Help us please!
