My students need tape measures to calculate real world math problems. By measuring the side of buildings and length of walls, students can determine the height and various mathematical computations. These are real world examples of what students will be required to do outside of class. This prepares them for futures beyond high school and gives them insight into the careers they have an opportunity to pursue. These tools can help them succeed beyond just pencil and paper math. They can go out into the world and achieve more knowing they have the tools to achieve their dreams. These tools matter.
