My students are Special Education English Students in an inner-city high school. They are very bright, but have not been given much of a chance by their community, peers, or previous teachers. Because of their low reading level, many people assume that it matches their intelligence. This is not the case...they love to read and discuss a variety of books and topics in ways that continue to amaze me as an educator.
