With a diverse background in our school district, I have been exposed to many different cultural and socioeconomic situations that prove our students have great challenges to overcome. Economically, my students are part of district in which roughly 70% are on free and reduced lunch. We are 49% Hispanic, 48% white, and 3% French African. These factors play a HUGE role in how my students learn, and what opportunities they have available. Our district is trying to bring the building technology up to date but within an extremely low tax rate community, the funding is next to nothing. We heavily depend on funding from the state government and it is decreasing drastically each year. The students we have despite all these hardships are eager and passionate about learning and thrive when presented with opportunities that others usually already have.
