I am brand new to my Elementary School family, and yes, they are my new family. When I first accepted my new position, I could feel my new principal's excitement through the phone. When I showed up for my first week in the school, I was greeted by the friendly faces of teachers ready to change the lives of their students. In this first week of school, these students have walked into the music classroom with bright eyes and smiles, and an energy that has shown me that they have a hunger for learning music. When I showed my first class my ukulele, I saw students that weren't as excited for music class suddenly perk up with excitement for the idea of learning to play this cool instrument. In my first five days of meeting all of my students in grades K-6, I can tell that these students not only want music in their lives, but they deserve a quality music education that I want to provide for them.
