My students love reading and love talking about what they read. They value every minute of our Readers Workshop and groan when it is time to move onto the next subject. Many students have books "on-deck" and can't wait to get lost in the next book. Some even are secretly reading a page or two during math time. We are a new pilot span school (K-12) located in the heart of the city that serves nearly a 1,000 youth. Our school fosters authentic collaboration with community organizations and higher education institutions. We are deeply committed to furthering social justice through a rigorous and authentic instructional program, critical dialog, and democratic school culture.
