My students come to school every day excited about learning. A majority of them enter my class with very basic literacy and communication skills. Despite these challenges they have gaining new information. They work hard daily and are constantly learning and making progress. I strive to make my classroom welcoming, exciting, and a nurturing safe place where we can all learn and be ourselves. In addition to academics, due to the disabilities that my students have, we also spend our weeks learning in the community, learning about how to interact with friends and adults as well as learning to be independent. My students come to class with very diverse skill sets. As a result, I need a diverse set of materials to ensure that they are all learning what they need to know. They always enter the classroom with excitement and ready to learn!
