We are a 6th grade cluster of 48 at a 5/6 school of more than 800. The common core standards require a significant step up to a fuller understanding of algebra and I witnessed the app Algebra Touch on a student's iPad. It will make the learning come alive on the white board. I will try to integrate the program into the Mimio projection program I use to make the lessons available in and out of the classroom. When teaching the concepts of algebra, 6th grade students need to see, experience, and integrate the workings of balance and similarities of groups and values so they can combine concrete thoughts with the theoretical aspects of algebra.
