By having flexible seating options, my students will be able to focus on their reading. Right now they each have a desk, but during reading and writing workshop I'd like them to be able to spread out around the room on comfortable cushions and stools. These flexible seating options would also be wonderful for math workshop, where students break up with partners and share their thinking together. The document camera will allow us to share our work together as a class. By being able to share work on the document camera, my students will be able to see how their peers solved a math problem. They will also be able to share their writing, which will support our learning during writing workshop. During science, I will be able to show experiments on the smart board so that everyone has a clear view.
