The start of my 14th year will be an interesting one. As teachers we are learning new safety protocols for our classroom daily. My kids’ health is very important to me. Being a science teacher, my day often consisted of group lab activities. My focus this year will be to allow my students to experience all of our labs in a safer setting. I do not want to take the fun away due to the lack of individual safety equipment in our classroom. By providing each student their own pair of safety glasses, cross contamination is less likely to occur. The large amount of pipettes I'm requesting will allow more individual participation. When we have done experiments in the classroom that required cold materials, I would have to use the staff refrigerator in our lounge. That proved not to be the ideal situation based on distance from my classroom and possible contamination. Having a mini refrigerator in our classroom would allow us to complete labs by having secured uncontaminated materials and without losing instructional time.
