Help my students build bugs with a mind of their own! The students create "bugs"—or simple electronic robots—that are able to steer themselves around objects. This lab fits in well with my STEM students' need to explore a variety of electronic components and how those components come together to create a gadget that is more than entertaining; it's educational. This project teaches students the basics of constructing electrical circuits, switches, and motors while learning how to use a multi-meter and solder wires. The kits along with the soldering irons create a hands-on learning experience with immediate feedback. I'm looking forward to seeing their projects come to life!
