I have inherited a large (and growing) choir of 120 6th grade students, and another choir of 7th and 8th grade students that is about another 100 students. The choral library I inherited, however, does not provide me with the materials I need to accurately challenge my students and help them grow as singers. I want to be able to provide all my students with modern materials so that they are getting the most out of their music education! I have chosen two popular choral songs; one for my 6th grade choir, and one for my 7th and 8th grade combined choir. The song I chose for my 6th graders is a song that we can use for performance, but also helps to develop sight reading skills. Sight reading skills are an important facet of any successful choir program, and I would love to be able to get my 6th grade students to reach their full potential through use of this song. The second piece will help me to develop other necessary skills in my upperclassmen choirs. Finally, the choir builder books by Rollo Dilworth are widely accepted as an effective method of developing basic vocal technique in beginning or young singers.
My students deserve to have the same quality of resources provided to them that wealthy schools are able to purchase on their own. This is why I am asking for the help in purchasing these songs and choir builder books.
