In my sixth grade Ancient Civilizations and my seventh grade New Mexico History courses, students will study prehistory. To supplement my students' education, I will employ an arts-integrated project. Students will create their very own cave art. During this project, students will practice drawing four oversized animals before selecting their best sketch. Then they will sketch this animal again on their project paper. Students will use the tempera paint I have requested to paint their cave art using sticks, rocks, and other objects from nature like the individuals who painted the caves. My seventh grade students will read What Was the Holocaust? during our unit on World War II, which will complement another text that we will read during this unit about Navajo Code Talkers.
