My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, with different unique strengths and challenges. Most students do not have books at home and are limited to library access because their parents work all the time, or do not support literacy. Our school serves approximately 70% free and reduced lunches and we are a 50% minority school with a high percentage of English Language Learners. My students are enthusiastic and talkative, but need a print rich environment to catch up to their more fortunate peers.
