I am going through a lot of exciting changes in the next school year. I am eager to be moving into a new grade level, from 3rd grade to 5th grade. The team I will be joining will be trying something new, departmentalization. Additionally, after getting the opportunity to go to Ron Clark Academy for their workshops and classroom observations, I have been inspired to try some new techniques and strategies in my teaching. Now with all of these changes, I am in need of a lot of help when it comes to my tables. I need tables that are suitable for student collaboration. The classroom I am moving into has the traditional student desks with the storage underneath. Since I will be departmentalized, I will be seeing multiple groups throughout the day so those underneath storage units are unnecessary. Additionally, I need tables that will be easily set up for collaboration. I do a lot of Kagan structures in my classroom, and using a lot of what I learned at Ron Clark, I have many ideas in which having tables will make them easier to implement. Also, having the new tables will also jazz up the environment. Our desks are pretty old and beaten down. Having some new furniture should make the students feel a little more special. I want these tables to make them feel like they are in a boarding room, like business professionals. Something they should be aspiring to become.
