My students are bright, focused, and motivated to learn. They are a diverse group that reflects the overall demographics of California. They are enriched by each others' diverse backgrounds and are open to learning from one another. My school is a large middle school with a population of 1,400 students. We have three full time 8th grade science teachers who work collaboratively to foster our students' innovative nature. They are part of an active community and a majority are involved in our sports programs. One quarter of our 8th grade class have volunteered to mentor groups of 6th grade students as they transition into middle school. Most are giving of their time and willing to go beyond what is required of them to make our school a better place.
