This is an on going daily activity that is teaching my pre-k diverse learners how to sit at circle time and read alouds. The children will begin to learn about personal space and other's personal space and learning the importance of keeping hands to themselves. The hug of a seat will provide a squeeze of comfort from the arm rests and set a sort of a boundary for their own personal area and space for safety and learning. Students with ASD really respond well to objects that provide a safe hug or squeeze and calms them down naturally. The students will be able to sit and listen and participate during circle and reading activities without having to be distracted by the student next to them bothering them or causing a distraction.
