While integrating technology into classroom instruction is, in fact, an effective method to both engage students as well as different learning, the reality remains that not all students have access to technology in the classroom or at home. Without access to internet-enabled devices that their peers possess, these students often are unable to complete work, partake in engaging tech-based activities, or be motivated to do so as they feel left out. Having a class set of 10 android tablets with keyboards and a charging station will allow ALL students to have ready access to devices with which they can engage in digital learning. One such avenue that students have found useful in my class is using the internet to search for Maps or using Google Earth/Maps to discover a location beyond verbal description. When provided with an image of locations and the environments that surround them, students are able to place their learning in the context of the place in which history occurred.
