Having these instruments will allow for creative expression, build confidence and social skills, create new neural pathways that improve critical thinking and other cognitive skills. These ukuleles will allow my students to engage in music education for the first time in their education. There is no current music program, of any kind, available to my students from the district or school level, and the financial situations of most preclude them from purchasing instruments on their own. In addition to the creative and cognitive benefits of music education, the students will use these instruments as songwriting tools to learn about and synthesize other content area material.
