I am starting off a new classroom in a new school and it is almost bare (see photo above). My students will be 1st grade students attending a city school in the Bay Area of California. Our school is diverse, with about 41% of our population being Latino, 33% African-Americans, 9% Filipino, 4% European-American, 4% Pacific Islander and 3% Asian-American. Almost a third of our school speaks a language other than English at home, with many students learning how to read in more than one language! Our school cherishes this diversity, and has a strong environmental science program rooted in the Loma Vista Farm. Please help me get my classroom turned into a fun and inviting place to learn.
