I teach Science Technology Math and Engineering at Olive Peirce Middle School. I am going to start to my 5th year teaching this subject (previously I taught mathematics for 13 years.) My 7th grade class is callled "Design and Modeling" and the my 8th grade class is called "Automation and Robotics." In the Design and Modeling class we use an Auto Cad program called Autodesk Inventor to design our prototypes. Some students get the opportunity to 3D print their models. From here we enter the innovation lab where students have access to a multitude of tools to build. This is their favorite part. Our main projects our bridge testing, compressed air rockets, air skimmers, Co2 Dragsters, and mouse trap cars. I am always in search engaging projects. In Automation and Robotics we focus on programming and building Robots to complete specific tasks. I often add in Rockets Cars, Balsa Planes and Catapults if time permits.
