Their families have enrolled them in a charter school because they believe in giving them the best education possible. They love to read (anything from Langston Hughes to Shakespeare to Sherman Alexie) and write creatively. They are a pleasure to teach on a daily basis; I learn from them--just as they learn from me--every day.
