Our elementary music students (third-fifth grade) need a new challenge. They have learned all of the instruments normally found in a general music classroom like rhythm sticks, hand drums, glockenspiels. They need a new instrument. One that can play both melodies and chords. That's where uke comes in. If you help us get a classroom set of ukuleles, we can start exploring the string family of instruments. Ukuleles are a great size instrument for elementary students, way easier to hold than a guitar. Students will be able to learn to pluck the melodies we study in class, as well as chordal accompaniments to songs we sing.
