Through the first two terms of this school year, I noticed many of my students struggling to come to school with the basic supplies required to complete the course requirements. My students come from a wide variety of social and economic back grounds and challenges.
Our students face so much adversity each day outside the classroom, they need to know when they enter the classroom that we are in this fight together.
My desire is to provide basic kits in the class, that will remain in the classroom, so that each day the students can come in and be prepared to learn. Specifically, I requested items such as pencils and notebooks so that the students can be prepared to complete the assignments. Another item requested is the protractors. Our students are moving into more complex math assignments and having the proper tools to work with angles is essential to their success. The final items requested are more common items that the class uses and helps the students feel at ease in the room. The tissues are unique in that note only are they for the traditional use, we also use them with the students mini whiteboards, eliminating the need to go out and buy many mini erasers.
