In my classroom I only have 27 old hard chairs. Every third day, 32 very smart, very ready 4 year old pre-school student’s show up to music ready to sing and play. I don’t have a chair for every one so pre-school has to sit on the floor. My classroom is in the basement of our building and sometime it gets cold in the winter and even in the summer with the air conditioning on. This is my second year in this building and we had to let our carpet squares go last year, they were old and nasty. After the pre-school students leave everyday at 12:10 I go get the kindergarten students in groups of 12-14, 5 and 6 year olds who just work better on the floor. My chairs become a distraction and add to the noise in the room. We need a new rug!
