For this project, students will make use of their composition notebooks to complete several writing assignments in our English 10 ESOL Lab class. These assignments include Warm-Up exercises, personal writing, reaction papers to TedTalks, Quickwrite assignments, drafting and proofreading academic essays, among others. The goal of this class is to expand their vocabulary and language skills in order for them to adapt to mainstream English-only classrooms. The TOEFL cards will be used as part of our "Word of the Day", in order to have the student expand their vocabulary before taking the state assessments during the Spring session. State assessments include PARCC and WIDA (which follows a similar format to TOEFL).
