I am looking to purchase big computer desks that I can use as lab type tables in my middle school classroom. I enjoy having tables to be able to break up the students into groups where they can build community with their peers, learn from each other, and provide support. Currently I have enough tables to create 3 groups of 4 students with the tables doubled up to give the students plenty of work space. This also frees up the middle of the classroom for me to move quickly and easily around the class. I recently received a TV and along with my Smart Board in the front of the room I am able to provide instruction and move around the room. While the 3 groups of students who currently are in the table groups can both see me and the information presented on one of the screens. However the other groups have to continually move around in their chair to see me or the information. These tables will help to provide students with a good work area for when we do in class activities or experiments. I will eventually need 10 total tables, but better start small.
