I have two wonderful students that have special needs but cannot be tested do to their ethnic background. Everyday, they struggle to read, write letters, and understand the basics of ELA. The items that I need for these students ( earmuff protectors, number and letter sets) will help them touch the letters, listen to audiobooks, and have a chair that can help them sit for a longer amount of time. Every student deserves to learn and these items can help them focus and learn in a new way. The school that I work at is a low income/free lunch school with a lot of crime and police activity near by. Many of the students did not attend pre school or have resources outside of the schools walls to help aid their learning. Being able to go back to basics and help these two students to achieve something as simple as learning the correct sounds and how to write the correct letter shape would be a huge achievement.
