My students come from a tremendously diverse background. Half of my students are the children of active or retired military parents. The other half ranges from extreme poverty to middle class. They are the best kind of students. They get excited the moment you say project and they love showing you what they know. They are the type of students who run to show the principal what they have developed, created, painted, etc. They hate sitting in desks and having me give them notes to take down. They come to school with the attitude that says "yeah we will tune you out if you lecture but we are open to learning." They attend a charter school that emphasizes the arts to try to ensure that the students learn how to learn and not learn to only take notes and tests. For many, their only outlet is through showcasing their learning in new and unique ways. You can help make their education one filled with opportunity and success.
