There are many research-proven methods to build thinking classrooms that enhance student engagement and learning. The process of building these classrooms include teacher-driven procedures and the physical environment of the classroom itself. Research shows that wall-mounted whiteboards are an excellent way to help create thinking classrooms. Vertical nonpermanent writing surfaces such as wall-mounted whiteboards have been shown to be very effective in the process of building thinking classrooms. Students using VNPS begin tasks more quickly and are more eager to work. VNPS enhance group discussion and student participation. Students are also more persistent and demonstrate more non-linear thinking. These large whiteboards along with the markers and erasers will be used by at least one of my three math classes every day and on a regular basis with my science classes, also.
