KIPP Durham College Preparatory is a free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory middle school located in Durham, North Carolina that opened its doors to 90 5th graders in August, 2015. The school is modeled after the highly successful KIPP Gaston College Preparatory located in Gaston, NC and is part of the KIPP Eastern North Carolina network of schools. KIPP Durham's mission is to empower its students, most of whom are from high-poverty communities in East Durham, with the knowledge, skills and character necessary to be successful in the colleges of their choice, strengthen their communities and fight for social justice. With a culture of high expectations, an unwavering commitment to student success and a belief in more time in the classroom, KIPP Durham is committed to its vision a Durham where all students have access to an amazing education and the resources needed to succeed.
