We use guided reading groups every single day. It is important for students to have access to as many books as possible, especially at this age. I want students to have access to books they can read that also get them excited to read. "A child who reads will be an adult who thinks." We have students who come in at the beginning of the year and cannot read at all and then we also have students who come in on a second-grade level. That is why our classroom needs such a variety of levels. I feel certain that growing our classroom library with guided reading books will help each student to achieve their goals.
