My students have specific literacy needs, and their growth occurs on that individual, student-centered level. Students find technology exciting, regardless of their needs. Some students need a little extra practice, while some need to expand the depth and rigor of choices. Some students need to see themselves in the books they read, while others need to garner new understandings of cultures different from their own. All my students need to be excited about reading and literacy when they bound through the door. Whatever the students need, the Kindle Fires will facilitate both interest and growth in reading within our Community. Students will find excitement and active engagement with the literary world through Kindle Fires. Using the Kindle Fires, my students will enter the classroom excited about the chance to read and leave it eager to return to their text. My students will use the Fires in small groups and independently, for extension or remediation, and to experience the joyful embrace of literacy.
