Digital technology and learning is now standard in school libraries across the nation and plays a key role in STEM education. Unfortunately, not all schools have the luxury to afford such elaborate setups in order to create a powerful hybrid space for STEM learning. It is my goal to create a MakerSpace area within our school library media center where students have the opportunity to engage in STEM education and project-based learning. "Maker education fosters curiosity, tinkering, and iterative learning, which in turn leads to better thinking through better questioning." It is my hope the MakerSpace will help students develop problem solving skills that they can apply to all phases of life and learning. I would love to have students come in and use the library not just for research and reading, but use it as a place where they can think, create, collaborate and grow in order to enrich their education.
