The flexible seating options are going to bring so many positive aspects to our classroom. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows my students to choose where they work and with whom they work with. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed which is a crucial part of a reading and writing class. I set very high expectations for my students and because of this I create a culture of lifelong readers. An uncomfortable student, is a distracted and unproductive student. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. I want my students to come into class and go to their favorite spot to get comfortable and read a book. The floor pillows and seats are going to do just that.
