Each day, my students come to class knowing that they will be completing a writing activity. With that said, we go through many pencils throughout the entire school year. As an English Language Learner teacher, it is vital that my students are practicing their writing skills in order to develop English proficiency. All of the pencils will be used, no doubt! There have been many instances in which I have not had enough workable pencils for my students, which in turn hinders their ability to write legibly. Within the last two years, I have purchased hundreds of pencils out of my own pocket.
