ipads would allow me help support and enhance the student’s knowledge, motivation and skill development, while allowing me to engage and document the student’s progress and achievement readily. I would like to have ipads in my classroom to help advocate for student lead learning. ipads would allow my students to video record or take photos of a skill that they are learning. From the photos/videos, they can do an analysis and break down the areas of emphasis to work on. This could be formatively or summatively, where they do video/photo analysis at the beginning and end of a unit to show growth. Video analysis is beneficial to all students, whether beginners or advanced in a particular skill. Another way in which I would like to incorporate ipad technology in my class is by allowing for better communication between students and guardians. Students can communicate with their guardians to tell them not only what they are doing in PE, but also demonstrate to them via photo/video of what their current point of the skill development they are at. Having ipads in my classroom would also allow for meaningful self-reflection and collaborative reflections amongst peers. Some of my students are visual learners. They are more successful in understanding if they can visually see what they are doing incorrect, or what the final outcome should look like. Student development and understanding increase motor development with the use of digital technology/videos. Incorporating the iPad use would still emphasizes my overall goal of student activity and movement, rather than just the skill of using technology. Every student is unique in his or her strengths and challenges. It is my job as a teacher, to foster highly individualized learning in response to every one of my student’s needs.
