Imagine waking up everyday to feed hungry students. 99 percent of my students fall below the poverty line and their meals are provided 3 times a day in our school. My students crave the classroom structure, consistency, and positive adult influence as insecurities bombard their lives in the intercity. Student are not only inadequately feed but also ill prepared for learning rigorous on level curriculum, also they are socially unprepared to interact with each other. However, they are the most curious bunch of students who desire a small place in my classroom to develop their self esteem and have a safe place to learn valuable skills. I have not meet a more humble and loving bunch of students who crave learning. Many of the social concerns include poverty, immigration, social and and economic disadvantages, incarcerated parents, deceased parents, abuse in the home, refugees resettlement struggles, homelessness and lack of literature in their homes. Yet my students eagerly desire to learn.
