My school is 100% free lunch, with many students eating at least two meals a day and receiving available clothing provided by the school. We serve a diverse population with many students living at or below the poverty line. Finances, food, utilities, and shelter are not often stable for my families. For many of my students, when home life is uncertain, school is the best and most consistent part of their day. Being able to manage the classroom environment is critical for maximum instruction and learning. I can control the environment for my face-to-face students. However, for students attending my class virtually, their environment is whatever and whoever is in their home at the moment. Some do not even have a table to work on. I want my visual presentation to be as engaging as possible so that they can be attentive, focused, and learning to the best of their ability.
