I teach an all girls kindergarten class in one of the lowest income county of South Florida. 100 percent of my students are on free lunch. However true, my class of all girls is a dream come true for me as a novice teacher. We have a truly loving relationship and I tell my girls that I love them each and every day. I do all that I can to be a positive female role model for these little ladies and i strive to be a ray of light in their difficult lives. The demographic of my school is almost entirely made up of African American students. All of the neighborhood schools available to my students are failing schools, with some of the lowest test scores in the entire country. I want to break down this predisposition to failure and move my kindergarteners 2 years, in 1 year. I know this is fully possible. My girls potential is infinite.
