The majority of the students are from low income families and cannot afford to provide all the school supplies that we request. It falls on me to purchase supplies to supplement what the parents can't afford. It adds up really fast when shopping for my students. I would appreciate any help provided to be able to purchase all the supplies and materials needed in my classroom. We need supplies such as copy paper, scissors, highlighters and pencils to complete everyday tasks. We also need a whiteboard easel for instructional purposes. In addition, due to Hurricane Harvey which just hit the city of Houston, students and families will have bigger issues than purchasing school supplies. As well I want to introduce flexible seating to my classroom. Research has shown, flexible seating benefits are profound, due to the fact that the classroom is reorganized to make it more student-centered. Children no longer enter into your classroom and feel like they are out of bounds or that they don’t have a specific space.
