Twenty-three third graders in one classroom started off as a lot of students for a first year teacher. Over the last nine weeks we have grown together into one family. We learn, eat, play, experience life, and grow together everyday. Our school is Title One, which to most people means that our students are at risk for learning because of their socioeconomic conditions. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have learned that hands-on, engaging and meaningful instruction transforms even the poorest of students into successful learners. The students are safe and loved while at school. This environment is nurtured because the students need to feel this way in order to learn. Once trust is gained, the sky is the limit for learning.
