These materials will make a great difference in my student's learning adventures. Ten frames are used to develop number sense. They can be used to teach many math concepts such as basic counting and addition. I will use the magnetic ten frames in my classroom to teach concepts such as counting and addition. They are large enough to be used in a whole group setting where students can come to the white board and manipulate the ten frame in front of their friends. The dry erase lap boards can also be used to practice writing numbers and addition/subtraction sentences.
In Kindergarten, students oftentimes have their first experience with reading and writing independently. My students will use the Picture Story paper to create and write their own stories and draw their own illustrations. They can also use the lined side of their dry erase lap board to easily write, erase, and re-write their sentences. The CVC word builder activity cards and blocks will be used as a hands-on center activity. Students will be able to practice spelling and reading in a fun and interactive way.
Crayons are one of the first items that my Kindergarteners take ownership of in the classroom. We use our crayons everyday! It is frustrating for my students when their cardboard crayon boxes rip and tear. It causes them to lose their colors or get them mixed up with another student's crayons. The super stacker crayon boxes will be used for organization. The students can keeps their crayons separate, organized, and tidy. They are small enough to be stacked on their desks and sturdy enough to hold crayons for years.
