My students are a bunch of amazing kiddos that surprise me everyday. They try their hardest to give me their undivided attention. However, they are 9 and 10-years old. My wish is to provide them with the most conducive environment for learning. Research shows, "The whole theory with the brain is that when your body's engaged, your brain's engaged." I of course want them the be as engaged as possible. With the ball chairs students have stated, "They help you focus, they help you keep your structure. And sometimes you get to bounce on them, get the wiggles out." In previous years I have utilized exercise balls from our PE teacher to allow specific students to stay focused. They have made a world of difference in their on-task time. However, the students would have to return them when the PE teacher needed them. It was an inconsistent intervention.
