All of my students have specific learning disabilities and Individualized Education Programs that emphasize instruction to meet their specific needs. These students, who typically read at least 2 grade levels below fourth grade, receive accommodations that assist them in accessing fourth grade material. Having Chromebooks in the classroom will help students receive accommodations in new ways. Having consistent access to technology will allow students to use the computers to help them type their essays, projects, and more using the Google Suite. They will be able to listen to their grade level textbooks online and use Google talk to text. Also, my student have access to computer-based intervention programs Read Theory and Tenmarks. In addition, with consistent use students gain real-world skills such as typing and navigating the internet. Chromebooks in the classroom are more than just technology, it's opportunity for all students to have a fair chance for their future.
